    You should have mentioned that the slide has a white side (or bare metal) and a black side at the handle end of the holder which let’s the photogrpapher know if the film in the holder is exposed or unexposed. Most photographers, including myself, have the white side out for unexposed film. In any case, once the film is exposed, the other side of the slide is turned to the outside.
